Our Mission
Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security (SAFS) is a registered Non-Governmental and Non-Political organization formed in Sierra Leone, by patriotic and developmental oriented citizens of Sierra Leone with the primary aim of working within the agricultural sector, thereby helping to eradicate hunger and alleviate poverty among farming communities in Sierra Leone and by extension Africa and the world at large. In other to achieve the aforementioned aims, SAFS thought it wise to largely involved women in all it's agricultural and developmental project, because we believed that nothing will be achieved in a progressive way without the involvement of women. Meeting in Pelewahun on women’s empowerment project Just as the hardage says "To every successful man, there is a woman". Indeed women are very fundamental and instrumental to the development of every nation or society, therefore it is not always proper for them to be at the back, but rather to take the forefront and lead. This is why we (SAFS) believed and bestowed our trust in working with women in the various regions across the country. And they have really been impactful, on the various projects that we have been bringing to their door step. Sustainable Agriculture For Food Security (SAFS) have different women groups in the district of Moyamba, Kenema, Pujehun and Bo, who are working on different Agricultural activities, such as Rice cultivation, Cassava, Groundnut and other vegetables. Nonetheless, Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security (SAFS) cared about the welfare of our Farmers and women groups. That is why we cater for them through the following: Technical farming trannings, provision of food for wook, health education, sexual assault awareness programs, Gender based violence awareness and many more. Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security (SAFS) believed in human resource capacitation that is why we have been working with all vulnerable groups such as dissables and women in other to give life and hope to many families, because majority of those categories of people are said to be looked low upon in our various societies especially Africa. And this is the more reason why SAFS prioritizes women and dissables. .

PUJEHUN WOMEN GROUP
SAFS BAYAMA womens group in their Traditional rice thrashing activities. Without thrashing machines this is the only option that the farmers had here, and that's really hard and strainful.
After a tough farming season, with the enormous challenges PUJEHUN SAFS women finally concludes their three month two weeks JUPITER rice research project.
YOYEMA WOMEN FARMERS.
SAFS believes in women empowerement, upon this backgroud we involved them in every sector of our agricultural projects, because without them we believed much success would not be realised.
Many thanks to SAFS for their timely intervention in our village, we are really grateful and we are looking forward to working with you, as the head of Palewahun women farmers i must say my colleague women are really happy for SAFS intervention, as we no longer struggle over food preparation for our farmers, because SAFS has been providing us with food stuff etc.
The coming of SAFS into our village has really bring a blessing to our farmers and the community as a whole. SAFS came to Yoyema in 2020, and they have been working with us as community farming project, and up to this period in time they have been giving us aid, through seedlings, Agricultural tools, food, money and training our farmers on advance agricultural methods. I as Yoyema town chief, alongside my people we must say we are really happy about the enormous help that SAFS has been giving to our town to ensure that the lives of us the farmers, the women, children and the entire community develop.
I have been in farming for over three decades now and it is through this farming that i and my family have been surviving. It honestly hasn't been easy for me as a female farmer over the years, however the intervention of SAFS has really bring a huge relief on us, because previously we have been doing every thing on our own without any help from any where, but thanks to SAFS intervention, as they have now helping us greatly.
SAFS intervention into PALEWAHUN village has really been a stepping stone in the right direction, honestly speaking PALEWAHUN has not been doing rice farming, we have been purely involved in cassava farming, but SAFS really encourage and gives us all the support that we need in other to do rice farming. As the town chief am really excited for this development and my people are as well happy for such development, and we are looking forward to see that we match to expection.
SAFS Mission is “to be an efficient and effective development-oriented community leader, focused on raising awareness and improvements in the areas of sustainable agriculture, education, health, clean water, and sanitation for low-income communities globally.”
